Connecting to God, People and in Ministry
|
Who We Are
We are a body of believers committed to worshipping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Southern Baptist Church, we join with likeminded Christians in spreading the gospel around the world.
Our slogan, "Sharing, Caring, and Serving", is more than just a catchy phrase. We hope that it gives you insight into just who we are.
Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds and at Bethel Baptist Church we desire to do the same. That's why you'll discover here ministries geared to various life stages and needs. That's why we have a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others through various service opportunities.
We want you to be a part of the blessings of God in the life of our church. We'll bring you updates often on just what's happening at Bethel and share the stories of how Christ is making a difference in people's lives.
Our Ministries Include:
Bible Study for all ages
Better known as Sunday School, our Bible study program begins with newborns where our trained teachers exemplify the nurturing care that you want for your children. Each age-graded class uses appropriate teaching methods geared to the learning level of the pupils. We use Bible-based lessons to help your children learn God's truths. Our infants & pre-school classroom suites are designed to enhance a warm, friendly learning experience. Older children and youth, housed in separate wings of our educational building, experience interactive learning with trained teachers who have a love and commitment for youth.
Adults, from college-age, through senior adult, meet in small groups within their age grouping for Bible study and life application. Under the direction of prepared teachers each week, the lessons focus on life application of Bible truths in today's world.
Discipleship Training
Classes are offered for all ages to provide practical help in applying Bible truth's to life. Recent offerings for adults included Family Financial Management, Prayer Life, "Experiencing God", and Marriage Relationships. Music Ministry
Through our music we express our love and worship of God and strive to glorify Him. We have an adult choir, an instrumental ensemble and special music in each of our worship gatherings. Missions Education
We are actively involved in supporting national and worldwide missions through our prayers, our giving, personal involvement and in teaching about missions. We conduct two annual, churchwide missions studies -- a North American Missions Study and and International Missions Study. We have a missions education organization for every age group. Preschool, children and youth groups meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Women meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The preschool organization is called Mission Friends. GA's, or Girls in Action, is for girls in grades 1 - 6. Acteens is for young women in grades 7 - 12. RA's, Royal Ambassadors, is for boys in grades 1 - 6. Challengers is for young men in grades 7 - 12. Youth Ministry
Ministry to youth includes the areas of Bible study and Discipleship Training, but also includes social events to enhance and involve youth in social and spiritual interaction with one another and with youth leaders. Annual events include Centrifuge, Illinois Youth Encounter, and Valentine Banquet. YACS, Youth-After-Church-Social, is held on a scheduled basis, and includes a variety of activities and locations. Opportunities are also provided youth to participate in the Illinois Baptist All-State Youth Choir and various missions projects. What We Believe
As part of the Southern Baptist Convention, the foundational beliefs of our church are contained within the statement of faith called the Baptist Faith and Message. Click on the title to view the entire text as posted on the Southern Baptist Convention's website. |
