“Becoming” (Who Christ Teaches Us to Be) is our Young Adult Ministry here at Bethel Baptist.  We are focused on building up our young adults, ages 18-30, by providing both spiritual and real-life support.

We have an active Bible Study, lively Sunday School Class as well as social events throughout the year.  Because we have college students involved, our schedule, other than Sunday School, shifts from semester to semester so please check the church calendar for our events.

There are a couple of foundations to Becoming:

1)    We believe the Bible is the true word of God and teach the Bible as written.

2)    We believe open questioning and challenges are healthy and help drive us deeper into the Word to find its truths and help us all learn more about our Lord and Savior.

3)    We will provide spiritual support but also help with the everyday as needed; don’t know a good mechanic, we will help find one, need help moving something, we will find that, just need an ear to listen and help through a hard time, we have that too.

4)    Fun and fellowship are how we learn more about each other and grow closer as brothers and sisters in Christ.

5)    Discussions, questions, and challenges are communicated with respect.

6)    The activities, study topics, etc. are selected by the Young Adults.  This ministry is for them and therefore the topics, books, activities, they are most interested in are those we select to study and do.

In the last year we had a game night, ice cream social, movie night, finals week cookout, and wonderfully spirited Bible studies of Habakkuk, Nehemiah, comparing the four gospels, and even a student led teaching each week of their life verses!  We also were able to encourage and support two of our group that went on international mission trips.
