For the next eight weeks we will be connecting with God through a daily time of seeking Him in His word and in our experiences. The purpose is to give us daily a sense of awe and connection to Him.
Each week we will look at a different way that God reveals Himself to us. There will be four daily devotions that will include: Setting, a passage of scripture to read, a meditation, a prayer, and a task for the day.
There are only four days, so you have a little flexibility. These should not take a lot of time. They are meant to get you thinking and should be done in the morning to give you thoughts for the day. Then at the end of the day, take a few moments to journal what your experience has been.
Day 1 – Experiencing His Creation
Setting: Try to find a place out among God’s creation. Find a place where you can connect with His beauty.
Scripture: Genesis 1:1-31
Meditation: Today, think about the creativity of God. The variety, the different colors and textures. Think about how blessed you are by all that God has created for you.
Prayer: Pray that today God will open all your senses to experience His creation.
Task: Get your hands dirty. Do something to join in caring for His creation.
Day 2 – Created for Purpose
Setting: Find a quiet comfortable place. Today is more a time of thinking and listening.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26-31
Meditation: Today, think about what it means that you were made in His likeness and in His image. In what way are we to be an extension of His presence in His creation?
Prayer: Pray today that God will show you how much He cares for you. Feel His love and tell Him you are thankful for all that He has provided for you.
Task: Write a thank you note to God for thinking of you and creating you. Thank Him for all that He created for you, just so that you might have life.
Day 3 – Uniquely and Wonderfully Made
Setting: Again, find a quiet and comfortable place where you can think and listen.
Scripture: Psalm 139:13-16
Meditation: Just as there is variety in God’s creation there is an amazing variation in those who are created in His image. Think about the ways that you are unique.
Prayer: Pray that God will show you your uniqueness. Thank Him for your design.
Task: Write down those unique things about you and thank God for how He made you.
Day 4 – Be Creative!
Setting: To be determined by the task you and God choose.
Scripture Psalm 139:1-6
Meditation: Today is about listening. If we believe that God is creative and that He has created us in His image, then we must also be creative. Think about your uniqueness and your passion. What do you create?
Prayer: Pray that God will help you to be creative as He is creative.
Task: Create something unique and different and beautiful.
