Welcome Back! This week we will be connection to God through His grace toward us. The salvation we have in Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us that it is the only way that we can draw near to Him.
This week we are in Vacation Bible School. In VBS each day we focus on a different part of the coming to Christ. We refer to it as the ABC’s. We will be following this formula to look at how God uses Grace to connect us to Himself, but we will be using the ABC and D’s.
This devotional is also to prepare our hearts for next Sunday’s service, where we will be celebrating the Lords Supper. We will be corporately thanking God for His grace and remembering the salvation we have received in Jesus Christ.
Day 1 – A: Admit you are a sinner
Setting: Find again your quiet place where you can be without distraction to hear God’s voice.
Scripture: Romans 3:10-12, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6
Meditation: Today we will confront our sinfulness, but rather than seeing this as a list of sins or breaking the law, let us think instead of it as going our own way, choosing our own path. How have you chosen your own path rather than following God’s way?
Prayer: Pray that today God will open your heart to see how you have fallen short of His perfect will for you.
Task: List times you have fallen short, confess them to the Father, and receive His forgiveness. Rest in His grace and love.
Day 2 – B: Believe that God has made a way.
Setting: Find again your quiet place where you can be without distraction to hear God’s voice.
Scripture: Acts 16:30-31, Romans 10:9, Hebrews 11:1
Meditation: Today, think about what it means to believe. What do you believe? What is the evidence of belief? What are the elements of faith?
Prayer: Ask God to fill your heart and your mind with the truth that God has saved you. Ask Him to help your unbelief.
Task: Think about the areas of faith that you struggle with. What are those things you want to believe but just cannot see. Write these down in your journal.
Day 3 – C: Confess with your mouth
Setting: Find again your quiet place where you can be without distraction to hear God’s voice.
Scripture: Romans 10:9
Meditation: What is the connection between believing with your heart and confessing with your mouth? Can you have one without the other?
Prayer: Pray today that God will give you opportunities to share with others the faith you have in Jesus Christ.
Task: At the end of the day write the experiences God gives you in your journal.
Day 4 – D: Devotion
Setting: Find again your quiet place where you can be without distraction to hear God’s voice.
Scripture: Matthew 22:36-40
Meditation: What does it mean to Love God? How would it look? How would it be demonstrated to others?
Prayer: Pray that God will give you His heart of love so that you may love Him fully and that you may love others with His love.
Task: Write a love letter to God in your journal. Make it personal.
